From the 90's vault: DJ S&S Get Your Swerve On '95 mix tape

I recently came across this in a shoebox of old cassettes that I was going through. Transferred it to digital and put it up for your listening pleasure. The 90's New York mixtape scene was too ill. Here's a great article on S&S and the 90's mixtape culture over on NahRight: http://nahright.com/news/mixtape-memories-with-dj-sns/ The story of S&S stealing the DAT for Nas' unreleased Understanding song out of Faith Newman's office is CLASSIC. The Swerve On tape had one side, the A side more R&B flavored (Smooth Side) and the B side was more straight hip hop (Rough Side). Here's the Rough Side for you to stream or download:

Just Before Dawn

This enigmatic rapper linked up with The Breaks in 2008 to release his debut self-titled album.  Bending styles, he creates alternative rap masterpieces that fuse elements of rock, folk, and old-school hip hop.  As soon as he linked up with The Breaks to record his debut album he disappeared into obscurity.
